What to Expect - Hands on Walkthrough

Princeton Review made our list of best LSAT prep courses for their in-depth learning. You will find 4 different options to study with when using Princeton Review:

  1. Self-Paced Course - $679
  2. LSAT 165+ - $2,099
  3. Immersion 165+ - $3,999
  4. Fundamentals - $1,099

The core offerings of those options are very similar, with the biggest difference being the number of live online classroom hours offered and the guarantee that comes with the course.

When you register with Princeton Review, you will receive access to their online learning portal as well as physical textbooks.

We really liked the physical textbooks as they were integrated well with the online learning portal and you were directed when to read various chapters while using the online portal. Plus, not a lot of the other providers offered physical textbooks.

You will find 150+ hours of video lessons in your learning portal. The coursework is organized by subject:

  • Games
  • Arguments
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Global Strategies

Within each of these subjects, you will find various units with video lessons, readings, and practice questions. We really liked how there were practice questions sprinkled throughout the units and mixed in with your studies.

A lot of the value you will find from using Princeton Review comes from their practice questions and full-length practice exams. You will receive access to:

  • 70+ full-length LSAT exams
  • 8,000+ practice questions

The practice exams do a fantastic job of simulating the actual exam. They also include detailed answer explanations which should be taken full advantage of. Princeton Review includes a 1-year membership to the LSAC and their LSAT Prep Plus (which is valued at $99). This is also nice, because some providers make you purchase this separately.

The interface of Princeton Review felt a little dated, but overall it was easy to use and very simple – which we liked. You can easily navigate your way around the course and find where you need to go.

If you chose to go with one of the packages that includes live online learning hours, you will not be disappointed. You will be able to attend the live online learning sessions as well as studying at your own pace with all of the resources listed above.

What to Expect - Hands on Walkthrough

Blueprint made our list of best LSAT prep for their amazing features. If you chose Blueprint, you will have a couple of different options to choose from:

  1. Self-Paced Course - Starting at $799
  2. Monthly Self-Paced Course - $329/month
  3. Live Online Course - $1,599
  4. 170+ Course - $2,249

All of the options offer similar offerings with the biggest difference being the number of live video hours and course guarantees.

Some of the core features you will find include:

  • 8500+ practice questions
  • 85+ practice exams
  • 90+ video lessons
  • Study plan builder
  • Advanced analytics and reporting

One of the best features of this course is the custom study plan builder. This tool asks users various questions and automatically crafts an extremely detailed study plan for the user to follow. The study plan will map out every single day for you with users having the ability to block off certain days they do not want to study. It is one of the best study planners we have ever seen.

You will be spending a lot of time in the "resources" tab. This is where all the lecture materials are stored. Your study schedule will tell you exactly which lessons need to be completed each day.

The lectures consist of a collection of bite-sized videos which help keep your attention because they are short and to the point. There are also quizzes spread throughout the lessons to ensure you are grasping the concepts taught.

If you are struggling with certain concepts taught in the lessons, you can sign up for a live office hours session. These sessions are included in the course for free and are offered 6 days per week. These sessions are taught by a LSAT expert and focus on specific topics. These are perfect for certain topics you are really struggling on.

In addition to the LSAT exams included in this course, students can create custom practice sets. These custom practice sets allow users to work on specific questions they will see on the exam. There are numerous filters that can be applied like difficulty, questions type, and more.

Another awesome feature of this course are the detailed score reports and analytics. After taking a practice exam, you will see a very advanced breakdown of how you did.

Students can also go to the "analytics" tab and view additional insights like how you are progressing over time, how you are doing on section specific exams, and data on how you are doing on your question bank questions.

If you are wanting to learn in a “classroom” setting, you can enroll in a Blueprint option that includes live online learning. You will get access to 37+ hours of live classes and 100+ hours of live review with your instructor. You will also get access to everything we talked about above.

What to Expect - Hands on Walkthrough

Magoosh made our list of best LSAT prep courses for the incredible value they offer. Magoosh keeps it very simple and has 2 different offerings:

  1. Self-Paced Course - $279
  2. Guided Study Course - $599

Both courses include all the same features with the biggest difference being 16 hours of live online instruction included in the guided study course.

Students will enter the course and arrive at their student dashboard. This is where users will be able to find everything and navigate to different portions of the course. One cool feature of the dashboard is students will be able to view a summary of their course results here. Some statistics they can view include:

  • Percent of questions answered correctly or incorrectly
  • Average pace for answer questions
  • Average pace of others
  • Number of practice questions remaining in each section

Students will be spending a majority of their time in the lessons portion of the course. The lessons are video based and grouped by sections on the LSAT. The videos range in length from 3 minutes to 20+ minutes. They consist of the instructor talking over slides, which sometimes can get dry. There are a total of 90 comprehensive video strategy lessons and 200 logic game explanations.

With that being said, the instructor does draw and annotate over the slides to add an interactive element to the lessons. There is a notes section to the right of the video for users to take notes and the transcript of the video is posted below each lesson for users who want to read and follow along.

In terms of practice, there are 3 different "modes" you can practice in:

  1. Custom Practice - This mode allows you to practice anything you will be tested on when taking the exam. You can choose which section you want to work on, which specific subject you want to work on, set a time limit, and choose between practice mode or quiz mode - practice mode shows explanations after each question while quiz mode waits till the end.
  2. Practice Section - This mode allows you to work on a specific section within the LSAT. Users can choose between reading comprehension, logical reasoning, and logic games.
  3. Practice Test - This mode allows you to take a simulated practice exam. This is the closest you will get to taking the actual exam.

One of our favorite features are the video explanations they give you after answering a practice question. This helps save a lot of time and learn important concepts. They also show you other student's average pace so you can compare your timing to others.

The course does include a study schedule. Users can find these under the "resources" tab. While they are not as customizeable or powerful as Blueprint, they are still helpful. They offer 2-week, 1-month, 2-month, 3-month, and 6-month schedules.

Finally, this course also comes with a 5-point score improvement guarantee or students will get their money back.

What to Expect - Hands on Walkthrough

LSATMax is a great option for anyone looking to prepare for the LSAT. LSATMax offers 3 main options when it comes to LSAT prep:

  1. 2-Month Subscription - $496
  2. 6-Month Subscription - $896
  3. 12-Month Subscription - $1,396

These 3 LSAT courses have some subtle differences but offer the same core features for the most part.

Users will have access to 90 LSAT practice tests, 100+ hours of video lectures, detailed analytics, daily office hours, and personalized support.

Students will learn primarily through the video lectures within the course. The video lectures are pretty standard and tend to be longer in length (45+minutes). While the length of the videos is not the biggest deal, our team prefers to see bite-sized videos that are easier to keep your attention.

One cool feature of the video lectures is the virtual message board below. Previous students have asked questions that have been answered by the instructors of the course. If you have a similar question, you can easily find the answer by sorting through the message board. You can also ask a new question if you want.

Within the lectures you will find lecture videos, flashcards, and practice questions. The flashcards and practice questions associated with the lectures help you drilldown the content that was just taught.

The practice questions include detailed answer explanations in video format – we thought this was a unique feature and found it to be very helpful.

Another feature that makes this LSAT prep course unique is the personalized experience you receive without having to purchase tutoring hours. When you register, you will have access to daily office hours and a personalized support system.

The daily office hours are held by a 99th percentile LSAT instructor and consists of live Q&A sessions. These sessions are recorded and can even be watched on-demand if you missed a session and want to catch up on things.

The personalized support system is integrated throughout the whole course. Students can ask questions on lecture videos and expect a response from an expert instructor. A lot of times this is not even needed, as previous students have asked similar questions and received answers to help them that you can use.

Overall, LSATMax has a clean design and user interface. The dashboard is split into a “study” and “practice” tab. This helps separate the two sections of the course and allows you to pinpoint your studies on what you want to work on.

You will need to purchase the $99 LSAX Prep Plus along with this course to get the full benefits of the LSAT course.

What to Expect - Hands on Walkthough

Kaplan has a ton of LSAT prep options. Some of their LSAT prep options are:

  1. On-Demand LSAT Course - $799
  2. Live Online LSAT Course - $1,199
  3. LSAT In-Person Course - $1,499
  4. Tutoring + Live Online LSAT Course - $1,999

While the offerings and what is included in these courses does vary, many of the features within these different products remains the same.

Users will have access to 60 full-length practice tests, 180+ hours of video content, physical textbooks, custom quizzes, the LSAT Channel, and more.

Students will have 2 main avenues for learning within this LSAT course:

  1. Lecture videos
  2. Physical textbooks

In regards to the lecture videos, you can either watch the recorded lectures or tune into the LSAT Channel for live sessions led by LSAT instructors. Within the LSAT Channel, you can ask specific questions, learn new strategies, or get help on specific practice questions.

The LSAT Channel is a cool feature because it gives you a true online classroom feel but with the pricing of an on-demand course. Our team really liked this feature.

If you are more of a reader, you can do your learning via the textbooks that are sent to you. The online materials can then be used as a supplement to your textbook learning. We really liked this hybrid learning approach taken by Kaplan.

You will have access to 60+ practice tests within this course. Unfortunately, you will need to pay $99 for the LSAC LSAT Prep Plus subscription.

In addition to the practice exams, you will also have access to 300+ customizable quizzes. These quizzes are great for students who really want to focus on a specific subject, topic, or strategy.

If you want, you can even upgrade your subscription to PLUS and receive 3 hours of 1-on-1 tutoring. This is a nice option to have and can be used as a last ditch effort to get ready for your upcoming exam.

What to Expect - Hands on Walkthough

Wize has a more simple set of offerings when compared other LSAT prep courses we looked at. Their offerings include:

  1. Monthly - $99/month
  2. 6 Month - $499
  3. 12 Month - $799

All 3 options include the exact same features with the only difference being the amount of time you have access.

The course is very easy to follow and has a nice user interface. Students can easily find everything they need via their dashboard. The lectures and topics are organized in a logical way that makes sense.

The videos include an instructor who talks over their slides. While this may sound boring, the instructor does a good job of highlighting and making notes so the student really feels like they are learning in a live classroom setting.

There are 24+ hours of video included in this LSAT prep course. The videos are outstanding quality and very well-done. The videos have an outline next to them so students can follow along with a written resource as well. The outline of each lecture is color coded which is helpful.

The course includes 3700+ practice questions and access to an LSAC account. The LSAC account will grant students access to numerous practice exams. Each lecture will contain questions to test your knowledge on certain concepts and ensure you are grasping the material.

As with most LSAT prep course providers, the practice exams are licensed out by the LSAC. While it may seem “weird” that you need to visit another site to take the practice exams, this is a common practice in the LSAT prep community.

Criteria Used to Rate LSAT Courses

To give our users the most accurate reviews possible, we used the following 4 criteria:

1. Price

Price is the first thing many students consider when purchasing LSAT prep. We understand that not every individual has an unlimited budget. We factored in price as one of the criteria used while reviewing these courses.

While price is important, it should not be the only factor considered.

2. Content

Content is king. This is an important factor that should be considered when purchasing a course.

Many courses use different forms of content to teach. Our team used content as a criteria to help individuals see what kind of content is included within the course and if the content fits in with their learning style.

3. Questions

Practice is very important when it comes to preparing for any exam. We used questions as a criteria in our reviews.

We looked at things like practice exams, question banks, stand-alone quizzes, answer explanations, and more for this criteria.

4. Guarantee

These courses are a lot of money. Having some sort of course guarantee is a nice feature that cannot be overlooked.

These guarantees can vary from provider to provider. Some guarantees include a score improvement guarantee or a money-back guarantee.

We have a very detailed review process. Included in our review process is:

  1. Researching Providers - we try and find all the different providers offering a product that fits the needs of our specific review.
  2. Narrowing Down of Providers - we then research these providers and narrow down our initial list of providers.
  3. Taking the Course - after narrowing down our list of providers, our team goes into these courses and completes portions of the course, just like an actual user would.
