Compass Test OverviewThe ACT Compass test is a placement test that many colleges use in their admissions processes. The Compass tests include modules in reading, writing skills, essay writing, math and English as a Second Language (ESL). Colleges use the Compass test for different purposes, including: placement, diagnostics and demographic analysis. For placement purposes, colleges use a student’s scores on their Compass test to place the student in the level of courses that are most appropriate to the skill levels. Colleges also use the tests to identify specific areas that a student may need remedial help. Finally, some colleges use the tests to gain a better understanding of a student’s overall needs.

The SAT Test is given several times a year, as listed in the table below.  International students testing outside of the US, US territories and US commonwealth have different testing procedures and deadlines.

ACT Test RegistrationYou can register for the ACT Test either online or by mail.  Online ACT Test registration has several advantages over mail-based sign ups.  Online ACT Test registration is faster and it enables you to determine if your testing location has space for you.  Registering for the ACT Test online also allows you to print your ACT admission ticket.  You will need to select an appropriate test date that will give you enough time to submit your scores to your preferred colleges.  Once you have selected you ACT test date, make sure that you register well enough in advance to secure a seat at your preferred test center and to avoid any late registration charges.

SAT Test Dates

SAT Test Dates occur seven times a year, as shown below. The standard test dates are on Saturdays, although tests may be taken on a Sunday for students who cannot test on a Saturday. Most high school students choose to take the SAT Test during the spring of their junior year and/or the fall of their senior year. The regular registration deadline is approximately one month before the test date.  Students may also pay an additional fee for late registration options.
