PAX Information

PAX stands for Pre-Admission Exam. This exam is used by nursing schools to determine if someone would be a good applicant for the program. The NLN PAX exam consists of three tests.

The three tests that make up the PAX exam include:

  • Verbal Ability - This section includes 80 multiple-choice questions - 60 of which will be scored.
  • Mathematics - This section includes 54 multiple-choice questions - 40 of which will be scored.
  • Science - This section includes 80 multiple-choice questions - 60 of which will be scored.

Some topics on the Verbal Ability section may include word knowledge and reading comprehension. 

Some topics on the Math section may include basic calculations, word problems, algebra, geometry, conversions, graphs, and applied mathematics. 

Some topics on the Science section may include biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science material.
