HiSET Test Information

The HiSET (High School Equivalency Test) Exams are a set of five subject tests designed to certify that a student has the academic skills normally acquired by completing a typical high school program of study. The HiSETs Tests are always given in person at testing locations in states/jurisdictions that recognize the HiSET. Candidates for the HiSET tests are individuals who have not earned a high school diploma. The HiSET is essentially an alternative to the GED credential.

The HiSET Tests are standardized by comparing scores to graduating high school seniors. This standardization process sets the benchmark that candidates must achieve to earn a HiSET credential. The HiSET credential is issued by the state (or jurisdiction) that the student resides in. The HiSET credential is typically considered to be equivalent to a high school diploma.
