SHSAT Information

SHSAT stands for Specialized High Schools Admissions Test. This test is made up of 2 different sections. This test is used by nine specialized high schools in New York City to determine admission. Students in eighth and ninth grade will be taking this test.

The two sections that make up the SHSAT include:

  • English Language Arts- This section includes 57 multiple-choice questions, only 47 are scored.
  • Math - This section includes 57 multiple-choice questions, only 47 are scored.

Some topics on the English Language Arts section may include revision, editing, and reading comprehension. 

Some topics on the Math section may include basic arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and data interpretation.
