GED Language Arts Overview

The GED language arts test includes 3 main topics:

  1. Reading for meaning
  2. Identifying and creating arguments
  3. Grammar and language

You will have 150 minutes to complete this portion of the GED exam. If the 150 minutes, 3 minutes will be slotted for instructions and final review, 10 minutes for a break between parts 2 and 3, and 45 minutes dedicated for the written essay.

In terms of format on the GED language arts test, there are 3 sections. Question types include multiple-choice, drag and drop, select an area, and drop-down questions. 1 of the 3 sections is a written essay (extended response).
