TASC Information

The TASC test is a high school equivalency exam similar to the GED, or HiSET exams.  Passing the TASC demonstrates that you have the knowledge and skills that meet or exceed about 60% of graduating high school seniors.  Most students take the TASC in order to get into the college of their choice or as a requirement for a desired job.

The TASC test covers five subject areas: mathematics, reading, writing, science and social studies.

States partner with the TASC test developer (Data Recognition Corporation|CTB) to make the TASC test and certificate the equivalent of a high school diploma.  TASC tests can be taken at many test centers which are operated by local school boards, community colleges, or adult education centers.

To pass the TASC subject tests you need to score 500 or more and score at least 2 out of 8 on the writing prompt.  To pass the overall TASC, a student needs to pass each individual subject test.  Scores are available for computer-based tests typically within 3 hours.  For paper/pencil tests, score make take up to 10 business days.
