PERT Information

The Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT) is a college placement exam administered by Florida's Department of Education.  The PERT is intended to assess a student's academic skills and abilities in order to place them in the appropriate college level courses.

The PERT exam measures a student's readiness in mathematics, reading, and writing. The test includes both placement and diagnostic information.  The PERT is a computer adaptive test (CAT) that includes 25 multiple choice questions plus an additional 5 "field test" questions.

Scores on the PERT test range from 50 to 150. On the math exam, if you score between 50-95 you will be placed in lower level developmental education.  If you score between 96 and 113, you will be placed in higher level developmental education.  A score of 114 to 122 will enable you to be place in Intermediate Algebra (MAT 1033).  Score of 123 or higher will allow you to take College Algebra or higher (MAC 1105).

If you score higher than 106 in the PERT reading test you will be place in Freshman Composition Skills I (ENC 1101).  Reading scores between 84 and 105 will place you in Higher Level Developmental Education.  A score lower than 84 will place you in Lower Level Developmental Education.

PERT Writing scores higher than 103 will place you in Freshman Composition Skills I (ENC 1101).  PERT Writing scores between 90 and 102 will place you in Higher Level Developmental Education. A PERT writing score between 50 and 89 will place you in Lower Level Developmental Education.
